Each Spring, Hollywood Orchard and a class of 6th graders go on a fruit hunting expedition. Together, we discover fruiting trees in the Beachwood Canyon neighborhood, discuss their role in our environment, and record their beauty in our guidebooks. We learn about soil, native plants, and the fruiting process. We plant native trees in our Mini Grove, and learn how a greywater system can provide them with the water they need to thrive. We pick fresh fruit, eat a healthy lunch, participate in food experiments with local chefs, and learn about California's rich natural history. It's a day we'll never forget.
This year's will take place on Wednesday, May 11 from 8AM-2PM. In order to participate, you must be available during that entire time. If you're interested in volunteering, please let us know.
