Farmers' Circle – Don't Fear the Pruner – Tree Pruning Workshop with Alex Silber of Papaya Tree Nursery

  • Hollywood Orchard Mini Grove 2627 Glen Green Street Los Angeles, CA, 90068 United States (map)

Let’s face it, pruning is scary!  We all know we should be out there pruning our dang fruit trees. But most of us aren’t exactly sure how or when. So we’ll grab the shears and take a few tentative snips. But the whole time we’re terrified of doing more harm than good, right?

Well, fear not!

Orchard favorite Alex Silber of Papaya Tree Nursery is coming by to give us a hands-on demonstration of how to prune with confidence. We’ll start at our new Hollywood Orchard Mini Grove, where this past spring we planted seven beautiful specimens of fruit trees that have done some serious growing! Alex will explain his pruning strategy, and since year’s end is pretty great timing, he’ll take us through some actual pruning of our young saplings, and even walk us up the hill to tackle some more established trees!

Wear some good hiking shoes, pack a water bottle and notepad, and bring your pruning questions. This is gonna get interesting!

If you must drive, please park on Beachwood Drive. We'll be meeting at the end of Glen Green Street. The street veers to the left and ends in a separate cul-de-sac where we started our mini grove. Let's gather there!
